Well hello there! And welcome! I’m Jamie, a travel and wellness obsessed former expat currently living the beach bum life down in sunny Florida. I love a few different things.....travel obviously! And I love learning about all things wellness and I love living a healthy lifestyle. It’s my passion and I'm here to share a little bit of it with you!

I’m inspired by many things. Traveling holds a very special place in my heart. After living in England for two years, I became forever changed, in more ways than one. But I have always known that travelling was in my soul. Before living in England, I would find myself far off in travel daydreams and living abroad finally put these dreams into reality. Whether it was strolling the streets of Paris or frolicking on the Adriatic coastline, my dreams were coming true with every passport stamp. Not only did I travel often, my views on healthy living changed dramatically. I immediately began to understand just how unhealthy my native country had become and it inspired me to change my career field to help combat our problems. I am inspired by those that bring truth to our current unhealthy situation and I want to be a part of that!

I have many dreams. Dreams to one day start my own practice, dreams to sail the Mediterranean with my husband and dreams to continue to find the beauty in our world (a serious 7 year plan is in the works my friends). I have dreams to be able to help as many people in the world that I can possibly manage, and I am figuring out the best ways to do so.

My Background: I received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology in 2011 and have been able to work with some amazing people in my field. My most influential life moments happened while working at a Rape Crisis center while living in New Mexico and I knew that I was definitely meant to help others in crisis situations. I currently work for the Department of Children and Families as a child welfare case manager. I began graduate school in the Fall of 2016 in School Counseling and am excited to see where it takes me. I also love love love decorating cakes.....so the thought of starting a bakery always pulls at my creative heart.

I currently am in the middle of moving back to the States with my husband of 10 years and my two hoodlum dogs, Bruno and Willis. It’s safe to say that I might have the funniest housemates ever. While things can get hectic, I laugh everyday and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We are avid football fans -War Eagle!- and we love being 'southern folk'. Fitness is also extremely important to me and I am always looking forward to my next big race! While moving back to the States seems to be the normal, hustle and bustle life, I try and seek out the beauty and the extraordinary. Life is too short for normal!

Previously, Gunters Abroad, The Healthy Passport has become my new blog home. After starting a travel blog in September 2013 to document our travels, I have discovered that I have a real love for this whole blogging thing. It allows me to be a little creative and release some of my creative love into the world.

Here at The Healthy Passport, I bring you all things travel and health, my two favorite things to learn and talk about. From travel tips to exercises, travel photography to recipes. It’s all I think about and I hope you will enjoy it as well. I am passionate about helping others find ways to live healthy lives. Hopefully, you will find some inspiration here at The Healthy Passport, whether it be through food or travel. And leave me a little note if you find something that does!

Healthy travels!

  1. Just a personal thought (and please delete this when you've read it), but while I think what you're doing is great, I'd definitely make thehealthypassport.com a separate entity from Gunters Abroad as that is a great piece of work that most definitely stands up well on it's own and you could reference it to. It'd also allow for more than a single platform for advertising revenue streams etc. not to mention tyour continuing travels will have a natural place.
