Our Last Big Adventure

So I guess I should just go ahead and say it....my lack of blogging has been completely due to my 'being in denial' about moving back to the States. I have been moping and procrastinating and moping some more. But after returning from Croatia, I feel ready to take on the remaining tasks to get us up and moving back to the States. So yay for determination! And I also am changing the blog around a bit. A new name will be coming shortly as well as we will no longer be abroad soon enough (for the time being). But let's not talk moving just yet....k?

So Croatia. What can I say? Our week in Croatia was literally the best week of my life. It was a stunning country and my favorite travel partner and I had an absolute blast! Before this trip, I thought Greece would always stand out as my favorite but Croatia rocked our socks off and is now miles above all of the rest (sorry Greece).

We spent 2 nights in the magical city of Dubrovnik, then hopped a ferry for 3 nights in the extremely laid back Korcula, then hopped another ferry to Hvar for 2 nights and then back to Dubrovnik for one more night before our flight back home.

I knew Croatia was going to be amazing, but the country in general far exceeded my expectations. The people, the scenes, the food and of course the WINE....all perfection. I felt completely at ease the entire trip...ok, maybe not the entire time...the high speed ferries give me some serious vertigo episodes but you know what I mean :) Croatia even smelled amazing. If you have travelled through Europe, you know that there can be some unpleasant smells lurking about. Well, not here! Only pleasant airy smells!

Also, we stayed in AirBnB apartments in Dubrovnik and Korcula and I can't wait to share them with you! Top notch hospitality. We now have Croatian family for life! So if you are planning a trip to Croatia, do yourself a favor and stay with a local. Hands down the best AirBnb experience I have ever had!

We ate amazingly. We drank even more amazingly. We both got nice tans. And we fell absolutely head over heels in love with Croatia. A new '5 Year Plan' is in the works and includes a boat an some Adriatic islands!

So stay tuned for some turquoise seas and gorgeous stone scenery from our crazy amazing last holiday while living in England. We truly saved the best for last and I feel completely content with our final adventure. I didn't think I would 'feel ready' to move to the States but I am back at home with a sense of peace knowing that we absolutely took advantage of our time here. And now, I can move past the moping and the procrastination and get moving on my checklist!

  20. Croatia looks fantastic, and a 5 Year Plan that includes a boat on the Adriatic is a great way to look forward to the future. I repatriated back to the USA last summer, back to the same exact town and house that we lived in before. It's been overall fine, but I do miss the exotic expat life.

  23. This looks fantastic! Croatia was one place we never made it to while living in Europe, but had been on the wish list. After hearing your glowing review, it makes me really want to get there soon.

Your trip sounds like my big trip before leaving - so glad you had one last epic adventure to relax and wrap things up with! I loved every moment of our trip through France- it's the best way to leave Europe with a bang! I'm only one month in to this whole repatriation thing so if you need someone to vent to or just to chat with someone who is going through the same things, let me know! Good luck with the move :-)
