Friends, it's time....
So here it is! My new blog name! Gunters Abroad is now The Healthy Passport! I've gone back and forth between so many names having to do with health and travel and this is what was best fitting for me. I have had some fun making my own logo and designing new pages for the blog but I still have plenty of tweaks to work on over the next few weeks so don't be surprised if things change around a bit! I wanted it to be all nice and perfectly packaged before I released it but if I keep waiting for that day, it will never come!
So why combine Health and Travel? Well it's quite obvious that I love all things travel, right? Ok, right. But I have recently decided to take a new path in my work life. I have now begun to pursue a career in Dietetics and I am so excited about what the future holds with this new change. I know that I will be learning a whole heck of a lot through my studies and I feel as though the blog will be a good place to give a reliable source of health information. But instead of just becoming a full on Dietitian blog, I want to combine it with my supreme love of travel. And I want it to continue to be a place of sharing ideas and stories. How does that sound?
I still have plenty of travels to share with you from our time abroad and I have a feeling our life in America is going to still be filled with interesting adventures! While we will be going back to Atlanta soon, we may not be there for long (i.e., my life is CRAZY right now haha!) So stay tuned for that bit! But I absolutely want to continue doing and sharing what I love, which is travel!
My health views. I believe in loving your body through nutrition. I am a believer in using food as our medicine. Meaning I believe that we can heal our bodies through food rather than medicine. Obviously, I am not a physician, but I seek out studies and literature on scientific research showing that this is possible. We have become addicted to things that make us really sick! And then we take medicines made in a laboratory to fix them. I can't help but go back to philosophers' quotes from the past.
"When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, Art cannot become manifest, strength cannot be exerted, Wealth is useless, and reason powerless" Herophiles
“A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings, and learn how by his own thought to derive benefit from his illnesses.” Hippocrates
and my all time fave
"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." Hippocrates
So maybe a future as a nutrition therapist is in my future? Who knows. But I do want to bring practical, yet fun, ways to introduce more wellness into everyday living!
I also have a new 'About' page, so have a little look! AND.....I also have started a Facebook page finally! Some come say hi!
I hope you stick around with my space now that it is slightly changing. It's still the same ol' travel loving Jamie though! Just with a fun, healthy twist....although I may just end up writing about the health benefits of wine all of the time hehehehe.
