Our Paris Apartment | A Fab Find

Paris was indeed an amazing city to visit, but I have to confess....I've saved my favorite Paris post for last (although Cedric's Tour runs a close second!). And what better way to close out Paris with our AirBnb jackpot that we found in Montmartre.

via AirBnb
I was completely overwhelmed when I began searching for accommodation in Paris. Where to stay? Hotel or apartment? But when I found this listing on AirBnb, the views did me in. I didn't care where it was....I needed this view! And the views did not disappoint! From our TWO balconies we could see just about all of the major landmarks in Paris. High up on the seventh floor, I felt I had made the perfect decision.

While the apartment is indeed small, the amount of windows and sunlight keep it feeling cheery. I loved waking to the views of Paris as well as winding down our day watching the sparkling Eiffel Tower.

The kitchen was very well equipped and we cooked our own breakfast every morning. Some people may think this is silly to do in Paris when you have the world's greatest pastries outside your door. But don't worry, we had our fill of the pastries! Cooking breakfast saved us a little bit of money and also helped with my little tummy bug that I was fighting off on our trip.

The bedroom, while small, was comfortable and even had it's own separate balcony, complete with a view of Sacre Couer.

The location, while not the most fancy of areas, is ideal. It is located near delicious restaurants, convenient grocery stores and several metro stops.

And let's not forget our host Martine, who was super flexible with us and very kind. Our choice in accommodation couldn't have been any better for the price, and with the Euro being as low as it is now this apartment is a steal! Who knew that an apartment can be a major attraction in Paris?!

  2. Looks fantastic... I couldn't believe how close to the Sacre Coeur it is! So many friends have recently struggled to find a good place to stay in Paris and have had to actually switch apartments mid-stay, but there's no way you'd want to switch from this one! Good recommendation :)

  3. What an awesome find Jamie! I've been considering renting an Airbnb place for our next vacation to New Orleans. I just haven't been able to decide if it's worth the trade off since so many places are the same, if not more, than a nice hotel room.

  4. Wow those views are stunning and you look lovely! I got a very tiny attic apartment in St. Germain des Pres (through Airbnb) when we went to Paris in October. This looks much nicer, haha!! I loved the location of ours but the bathroom was almost unbearably tiny. I was SUPER overwhelmed when searching for accommodations in Paris.

  5. I was skeptical that something could be better than handsome Cedric's tour, but that is a nice apartment :)

  6. TWO balconies?! Score! Amazing views! I have yet to try Airbnb and I'm not sure why I haven't yet since I have used vrbo. I looked at some apartments in Munich but I think I got overwhelmed since there were SO many options lol. Do you find the reviews/etc. are pretty accurate on there? Or is it hit and miss like hotels?

  11. That place is super cute! Having such a nice place (and views!) to come back to in the evening must've been amazing. Good on you for finding it!

  15. Finding accommodation in Paris can be super hard, but I think airbnb is a great way to go. Looks like you ended up with a jackpot! Montmartre is my personal favorite part of Paris so I wouldn't have any problem staying in this location.

  16. Wow! Look at that view of the basilica! How cool!! For a second trip to Paris, I think this place would be perfect! For first-timers, though, it's a little far from where the majority of the sites are which would mean quite a journey every single day. But I guess it all depends on what you're looking for. Personally, the next time we go, I'm staying in this area. Your photos have sold me!

  17. We also loved our AirBnB in Paris! It was awesome!

  18. I think so too! And since we spent a large amount of time in the apartment (stupid bug) it worked out perfect!

  19. I couldn't believe it either! It was a pretty incredible view. I had no idea where to stay in Paris....too many choices. And this worked out on both price and location. It was so cosy!

  20. I think it just depends. I always check both options and weigh the benefits of each! We have used Airbnb for Amsterdam and Rome and I felt those were two good choices because the hotels were so expensive at the time of booking, same with Paris!

  21. I have seen a few of the attic apartments haha! I would go for it if I was by myself but I know my 6'2 hubby would not be happy!!

  22. Right?! Haha!! Cedric was great....but short lived :)

  23. Yeah the balconoes were incredible! I really like Airbnb for the more expensive cities. I have only used it for Amsterdam, Paris, Edinburgh and Rome and I was really happy with our apartments! I would only ever rent something that had 5 star reviews, pricing a little below a 4 star hotel and cleanliness being a main mention in the reviews. Sometimes I just go with my gut on hotels/airbnb. If I find one review about being dirty then it's a NO!! :)

  25. It was the absolute perfect way to end the day. I could have sat on the balcony for hours just taking in the view with a glass of wine!

  26. I really lucked out! And during Thanksgiving holidays no less :)

  27. Yes! Do save it! It really is an incredible value :)

  28. I was finding the hotels to be super expensive for just a 3 star hotel. I wanted our Paris trip to be comfortable and memorable and this was the perfect option. You should consider it when you return :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. It was really easy! There were two metros within a 5 minute walk and I had a super app that mapped our journeys on the metro. Nothing was too far really for us newbies! But check into to this place....even has a little pull out couch :)

  30. I think AirBnb is a great option for Paris with all of the expensive hotels!

  31. The apartment you stayed at looks amazing! :) And that view...

  32. I'm so happy you had such a beautiful place to stay in Paris!! And how awesome to have such great views at all hours of the day - you really lucked out! Isn't AirBnB the BEST?! Happy to have found your blog on the Travel Tuesday link-up! Following now! :)

  33. Oh my view!! Amazing experience!! I have only rented an apartment once, and it was a great experience! When we travel domestically, we tend to gravitate towards Residence Inns because it offers us the ability to cook our own meals, keep leftovers, etc. It's definitely the way to go - particularly now, like you said, that the dollar is stronger. ;)

  34. What a lovely apartment find! Those views are gorgeous! Word of warning when renting a short-term apt on vacation in Paris - that's what I did when I was on vacation in Paris, and I loved it so much that a week later we were pursuing moving to France. Completely spontaneously, out of the blue :-)

  35. Oh wow, that's an amazing airbnb find! I can't imagine my travels before airbnb, you get to 'live' in some cool places :)

  36. That apartment is absolutely lovely. The next time we visit, I would definitely look into it. That said, I've always been curious about staying in Montmarte versus other parts of the city. When we were in Paris last, we stayed out by Parc Monceau, which was pretty far removed from the core tourist attractions, but because we were 1/2 block from two different metro stops we never felt isolated. I know people love Montmarte but when we visited for an afternoon I felt like it was so far out there, but in hindsight it wasn't any further than where we stayed.

  37. I looked extensively into Airbnb, VRBO, and Homeaway for our trip to New Orleans last year and unless you have a larger group, you can pretty much always find a hotel room in a more convenient location for the same price or less. One thing to also consider with New Orleans is that some of the apartments that you see on those sites aren't in the best location. Yes, they're beautiful, but some of the neighborhoods haven't quite gentrified as quickly as the images would have you believe. I hate to be a fear monger, but Nola isn't exactly safe so it's better to stay where you have the presence of crowds and police. (I say this as someone who LOVES that city so please understand that I'm not trying to bash it in any way.)

  39. I love that kind of story!! Hey, I would have moved into this place in a heartbeat....I could just imagine coming home and drinking some wine from that balcony!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I felt the same way about Montmartre! But we were so close to the metro that I never felt too far away.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Right? The only one that was kind of just blah was our Rome AirBnB but still, it was in such a great location that I couldn't complain too much!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love having a mini kitchen! We generally enjoy cooking breakfast for ourselves and taking our mornings slowly :) And isn't it a shame when you can't keep leftovers?!

  43. I couldn't get over how amazing it was. Perfect way to relax after exploring!

  44. Oh glad you found me! Yes, I really do love AirBnb! I usually switch it up depending on where we are travelling to, but I certainly have an appreciation for staying in a local apartment!

  49. I've had this post saved to my favourites for when I was ready to book my place for Paris this summer. Unfortunately it's not available for the nights I'll be in town. Not hard to see why it's booked up, it's amazing! Thanks for sharing it with us. :-)
