Tour Through Blogland

I was recently nominated by a fave blog of mine, Life +1 to give a glimpse into my blog writing process. I am sorry to inform you that I am not that interesting when it comes to creating my little blog world! Just imagine me in my jammies watching telly....yep boring!!

But nevertheless, here it is :)

What are you working on?

Post wise, I'm working on catching up on all of my Paris editing as well as preparing for some upcoming Christmas posts...eeek!! German Christmas Market heaven...yay!

And overall blogwise, I am looking into purchasing a layout to keep me organized. I have always created my own designs for the blog but I am thinking it's time I need some help! Nothing fancy, just something a little more streamlined and stylized. So stay tuned for a new look come January! And possibly more organization.....we will see :)

How does your blog differ from others in it's genre?

I don't think I am too different from the many other bloggers who took jobs abroad or followed spouses who did. I originally started my blog with the intention to keep family updated on our travels and it has turned into a wonderful hobby for me! I love connecting with fellow bloggers and learning about destinations around the world. So I guess I have my own unique voice and style but my content is nothing extraordinary. Just the world through my eyes!

Why do you write/create the way you do?

I love photography.... ever since my high school days with my manual 1975 Canon and losing hours of time in our classroom's darkroom. I loved watching the image appear onto the paper and being able to manipulate it with filters and such. Nowadays, it's much more technical but I still get the same pleasure out of watching my photos transform into something amazing with a few tweaks here and there. While I have MUCH room for improvement, photos are what dominate my blog and I am happy with that!

How does your writing/creating process work?

I try and write a good bit about a destination or topic before I start adding photos. Like I said, the photos are my favorite part and if I start laying those out first, I will never write anything worthwhile! So I do my best to describe things that I saw, things I experienced, and of course things that I ate. AND then I add my photos! I usually write in the mornings with  my morning Zeal. Gets my brain powers flowing.

So that's about it! Blogging has been a God-send for me! I love having a little hobby to tinker with and I absolutely love recounting our travels and almost reliving them as I watch them fill the computer screen. I have learned so much about blogging and I really enjoy connecting with and viewing other's creative spaces! So thank you to all of my blog friends for keeping my mornings busy :)

And I am nominating some fellow UK blogger friends :)

  17. I really think blogging is one of the best hobbies ever... I can't believe it's taken me this long to get into it. You can write, work on your photography, fiddle with design and come up with new ideas... it's just so much fun :) And yeah I'm pretty much the same haha, on the couch in my pj's

  18. :) The PJ uniform is the best blogging attire!! Yeah, I think I will always blog now....even if it slows down whenever we have to return to the states....I will still have a need to tinker on my photos and share them!

  20. I have to blog in small spaces of time. It's tough! I just don't typically have enough time to finish a post in one go. I'll write half the copy before work, do the rest of the copy after work, maybe do some photo uploading after dinner, and so on. I also have to take all my own pictures (99% of the time) for the blog so I'm out there trying to capture life around me! It's not always easy!

That being said...blogging has been one of the most rewarding things I've done in my whole life. I've experienced things in a different way because I'm blogging, and I'll often seek out places, people, and experiences that I wouldn't. As a naturally introverted person who is more apt to sit on the couch than be outside in the middle of things blogging has gotten me out of my shell more than once.

  21. I love pictures too! I like getting to see people's different perspectives of a place they have visited through the pictures they take. A lot of times I see a picture and it instantly makes me want to be able to see a place from that spot too :)

  22. I am the same way! I think that my blog really helped me to overcome all of my insecurites as an expat.....it made me get out there and not be afraid! I also write in short spurts it seems.....just adding to and tweaking a few times before I post. I wish I could be one of those that just types it out and it's done!!

  23. Yes!! I am obsessed with travel photography. I have to admit, I usually skim over a lot of blog posts just to get to the pictures :) I think photography is my blog love language lol!!
