Mykonos Town and Paradise Beach

Mykonos. What's not to love? A lot of people think that Mykonos is a big party island but I don't know where the party was. Actually, I take that back. I do. But the parties didn't start until late night and since we were located in a quiet area, I never heard anything! So please....do NOT let the rumors keep you away from Mykonos!

I loved Mykonos. I loved the views. I loved the beaches. I loved our hotel. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the food. Seriously, our best meals were in Mykonos. And I loved the people. The Greek people that we met were seriously just awesome. They really cared about showing us a good time and making us feel at home in their country.

We arrived Sunday night, later than expected due to a flight delay, which always makes me a little nervous! But the flight from Athens to Mykonos was fun....only lasting about 35 minutes and full of people excited about their island getaway. Luckily, our hotel shuttle was waiting for us and whisked us away to Hotel Petinos on Platis Gialos which means "wide shore". I was a little anxious to see what our hotel would offer. But when we arrived we knew we had made an excellent choice! About 100 yards from the beach, which made things a little quieter for us, and a sea view balcony.

On Monday, we woke up, went to the gym (yay us) and headed to the bus stop to go check out Mykonos town. While there were plenty of things to do in town, it was HOT and we quickly hopped back on the bus to head to Paradise Beach. This was an excellent decision.

Paradise Beach was just that. Paradise. There were several bar/restaurants on the beach and each one had chair service. We picked a chill bar and our server found us the perfect set of chairs at the front. We ordered some beers and pinched ourselves. It was hot, so we took a dip into the water and it was so refreshing. The Aegean Sea is incredibly salty and buoyant. If you find it hard to float, come here and you have no option but to float! It was super cool.

Paradise Beach is super chill until about 6pm and Tropicana, a beach club, turns its music up. It got a little loud but no worries, the sun was beginning to set and it was time to head back anyway. But if you need a place to chill the day away....you have found your place! Another fun part of Paradise Beach is watching all of the airplanes come in. I just imagine all of their joy upon arriving in Mykonos :) I'm so glad we spent the day at Paradise Beach! Take me back!!!

  1. Oh Mykonos, such a beautiful place! We were in Greece in late September so most of the summer parties were over. Paradise beach was one of our favorites as well :)

  12. So great to see a glimpse of this island! Am currently trying to decide on the perfect honeymoon Greek island for next summer (yeah, 11 months away but these things get booked up quickly!) as I've never been to Greece. Looks simply dreamy.

  13. We chose Mykonos and Santorini and loved both. Each were different and offered different things! It was so easy to take the ferry to each island and I would recommend it!!

  18. Yes there are!! I want to go to Turkey and Croatia as well! Greece was amazing. I think any of the small islands will all be good choices. I loved Mykonos and Santorini both! They were different but both amazing and Athens was really cool too!

  20. I can't even BELIEVE that hotel. Incredible!!! I'm really glad to hear that you loved Mykonos. I've heard it's a huge party island which hasn't appealed to me too much, but knowing that you had a great time and weren't forced into a party makes me want to go even more...also, the fact that you had the best food there ;)

  21. Yes, I was worried about it at first but I was definitely pleasantly surprised at how low key it was. But I think we picked the best area to stay in for a more low key time! And yes, the food was AMAZING!!!
