Lovin & Not Lovin this week!

We've been doing a lot of catching up on normal everyday things this week after spending Van's 4 day holiday in Scotland. Scotland was amazing and we already want to go back! If you haven't read about our trip so far take a look at my Edinburgh and Tantallon Castle posts. Edinburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and golfing in Scotland are coming next week!

Being able to still wear some of my cold weather clothing in the summer! It was actually pretty chilly in Edinburgh for the July 4th. Van and I were in shock about wearing sweaters on the 4th of July....usually we are in our bathing suits!!
July 5th in a cardigan and scarf!!

Not being able to wear all of my cute summer clothes! But it looks like a little bit warmer weather is on the way!

Getting together with my Ely Ladies group every week! I joined a meetup group with other ladies in my town and we have been meeting at least once a week for drinks at a pub or Indian food nights! We have one very diverse group, women from all over the world and all different ages. Tonight, we are going back to Le Spice, one of my favorite spots in Ely. Can't wait for good times tonight! I'll try and get a good pic tonight :)

Been missing my little girl a lot this week. Sometimes I am just piddling around the house doing housework and the tears just hit sometimes. I still think that I hear her every now and then. I miss her running in the kitchen when I open a can of tuna. It just really is hard to believe that she is gone sometimes. I know we don't get to keep our precious pets forever but she just left me too quickly. She was such a friend to me...I know that sounds crazy, but she really was. If your a pet person, you understand.

and let's end on a good note

Living in the UK in general. I am loving the weather. Loving the countryside and scenery. Loving the opportunities that are available to us and loving being able to experience all of this!!

Happy Friday!!

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your cat, Jamie! Pets really are a part of the family, and it doesn't hurt any less when they pass away.

On a happier note, you look adorable in your scarf and cardigan in Edinburgh! When I studied abroad in London, my biggest mistake was packing like I was going to still be in South Carolina. With a wardrobe full of shorts and tee shirts, I FROZE and ended up buying a pair of sweatpants that I wore constantly. You live and you learn! :)

  2. I often wonder if the UK ever sees summer? And I totally understand what you mean with your cat. I'm sorry for your loss, it isn't really fair that animals cannot live forever. I feel this way about my staffie, and she is still alive!

  3. It's been a chilly summer stateside too! I think I'd be much more bummed about it had I not spend a week in Jamaica for vacation. Now I'm just loving comfortable temps and not sweating like crazy!

  4. Thank you...

OMG when we moved here, I just had my suitcase from when I had been living in Dallas for the summer....I had one sweater that was pretty much pajamas that I wore for an entire month when I got here. It was the only thing I had!! I learned for sure!

  5. I'm learning that it's not much of a summer! Lots of cool days and the sunny days are so wonderfully mild. I love it! Thanks for your kind words, pets really are amazing and the bond we share is something devastating to lose :(

  6. Oh I bet that's a nice change!! I've lived in the South my whole life and just moved from NM to the UK, so these cool summer temps are definitely foreign to me!

  8. How great that you have met a wonderful group of ladies. I feel you about the chilly weather, I wish I could wear my cute summer clothes. And more than understand missing a pet, it can be so hard!

  9. We've actually been having a fairly chilly summer over here in Michigan, in the USA--I don't like it too much, I'd prefer to get to wear summer clothes!

  11. I'm very jealous of your cold weather clothing! I know I'll get the backlash for saying it, but I am so sick of summer weather down here in Florida! It's sooo nice to wear tanks tops and summer clothes, but I miss my boots and jackets! One more month and I'm back in that good ol' London cold! :)

  12. You're loving the UK weather? I think you are the first person I've ever heard say that! But that's awesome if so. Me - I wish there was a little less cloud, a little more sun so one day in this country I might get some type of natural tan. Lol.

  13. I agree about it being kind of nice to wear winter clothes still. We had a really bad week of rain last week and as much as I complained, I liked pulling my old jumpers back out ;).
