Summer Style Picks

If you have ever had the amazing opportunity to visit or live in England, or Europe for that matter, you understand that just because the start of Spring rolls around it doesn't mean that the warmth is here to stay. Having grown up in the southern US, Summer was usually showing its pretty face in March! But here in England, the weather can be very stubborn. Sure, we have had some GORGEOUS days so far, but there is still a crisp chill at night and if the sun is hidden by the clouds, you still need a sleeve!

So today I'm teaming up with Ptarmigan, a stockist of some of Britain's popular weather ready brands, to give you a few perfect pieces to lead us into summer. And these pieces will lead you into many English summers to come! I seriously could purchase a closet full of stuff from the website...check it out for yourself!

So without further adieu...

Ptarmigan’s Summer Style Picks

Are you ready for a summer wardrobe update? It’s time to inject some fair-weather country style into your drab winter wardrobe – put away dull tones, oversized winter coats and enveloping scarves and instead opt for lightweight trenches, quilted jacked and soft, fluffy jumpers.

This season you’ll want to start thinking about pastel tones, like the soft dove grey of the Dubarry quilt jacket above, or the pastel sea-blue of the Tuskar ladies top. Add a pop of a jewel-toned colour such as amethyst or raspberry and you’ll be on trend with the catwalks too; the alpaca socks above look great combined with muted tones, wear them peeking out of your wellies, or ladies can wear them with ¾ length trousers and brogues.

Sadly spring doesn’t mean the end of bad weather, especially not in the UK, so if you’re planning on getting outdoors even a little you’ll need to make sure you have a good coat. This coat needs to keep the wind and light rain out, but still look stylish. You have several options here, the trench, a windbreaker, a quilted jacket, a bomber jacket or even a lovely long wool jacket. Choose whatever goes best with what you normally wear – if you’re prone to wearing dresses you’ll probably get more use out of a trench coat, which goes better with tights or bare legs! However, if you’re more of a jeans and boots kind of girl, a quilted jacked is very flattering.

Finish off your spring countryside look with leather accessories – they’re long lasting, weatherproof and they go with almost anything. A good pair of leather boots will see you through almost anything, and a pretty leather satchel can be accessorised with a vintage scarf, whilst also being practical enough for everyday heavy use.

What’s your spring wardrobe going to look like? Will you be trying out these tips?

What's your favorite pick from above?

Mine are the beautiful purple Alpaca socks :)

Happy Friday!

  1. Boat shoes are so cute and perfect for (non-rainy) spring and summer days!
So true that the weather doesn't really change from winter to spring even to summer. I feel my wardrobe didn't change so much between the seasons except for my perpetual attempts to wear skirts and shorts which failed as it was Scotland...
